Description

Anyar seeks a Junior Network Administrator for the Air Force Research Laboratory, Munition Directorate in support of modeling, simulation, and analysis enclave. Network engineers and administrators enable constructive distributed simulations for the advancement of mission critical weapons systems. The engineers and administrators are responsible for designing and deploying unique infrastructure to deliver innovative, scalable, and portable compute environments.

The candidate will troubleshoot and resolve issues on multiple isolated and connected research and development (R&D) networks and classifications. The R&D networks are composed of a variety of network devices and operating systems. The candidate must be able to interface and adapt these disparate network components. The candidate must be self-starting, able to work in a team and independently, and be interested in research and development of novel network solutions. The candidate must be able to excel in a dynamic and highly visible workplace.

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in networking principles and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.)
  • Understanding of IT security principles
  • Familiarity with virtualization and containerization technologies
  • Experience in configuring VLANs
  • Administration experience with Linux and Windows operating systems
  • Familiarity with network hardware and software, including routers, switches, firewalls, and monitoring tools
  • Knowledge of server operating systems such as Windows Server and Linux
  • Proficiency in scripting languages for automation tasks (e.g., PowerShell, Bash)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for technology
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Eagerness to learn and develop technical skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience required
  • 1 year of experience in networking (Required)
  • Security+ certification required

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design, implementation, and maintenance of the organization’s computer networks as a Junior Network Engineer
  • Configure and maintain network equipment, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless devices
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal operation
  • Collaborate with System Administrators in planning and implementing network upgrades and expansions
  • Provide technical support to end-users for network-related issues
  • Install and configure network software and applications
  • Perform routine network maintenance tasks, such as backups and updates
  • Document network configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps
  • Manage and maintain computer systems, servers, and other IT infrastructure components as a Computer Systems Administrator
  • Ensure the reliability, security, and efficiency of server systems and services
  • Perform server installation, configuration, and maintenance tasks
  • Implement and maintain server security measures and protocols
  • Monitor server performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure uninterrupted operation
